Emma is thrilled to be leading the Trafalgar Sinfonia in a vibrant programme at St Martin in the Fields on 20th October 2017. The programme includes two exciting 4-violin concertos by Vivaldi.

On Sunday 8th October, for the very first time the iconic silent film The Phantom of The Opera will be screened with the premiere of a score by legendary musician and film composer Roy Budd. This is a not to be missed one-off event with Emma leading the Docklands Sinfonia, conducted by Spencer Down.
As a child prodigy performer, Budd debuted at the Coliseum in 1953 at 6 years of age. 64 years later, it is only fitting that the Coliseum will again play host to Budd in what is arguably his greatest achievement – a grand soundtrack for a full orchestra with several themes and leitmotifs that pay tribute to the great composers of the concert hall and screen, while at the same time being unmistakably the work of its inspired creator.
Budd tragically and unexpectedly passed away in 1993 at 46 years old, five weeks shy of the original premiere which never eventuated due to his passing. 24 years later, Emma and the Docklands Sinfonia are proud to be performing the premiere of his masterpiece work.

Friday, September 1, 2017 at 9:39PM Emma is to perform the Concerto in D minor for Two Violins at St-Martin-in-the-Fields with Helen Davies and the Belmont Ensemble, on August 10th. Emma is a regular member of the Belmont Ensemble, but this will be her Concerto debut at St-Martin-in-the-Fields.
Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 5:36PM On July 9th 2017 Emma led a 26-piece string section as part of the Blue Planet Orchestra in the world premiere of Roland Perrin's Rio Amazonas at Saffron Hall. The strings played alongside a jazz trio and Hertfordshire Chorus and girls' choir.
Rio Amazonas is an exuberant, exciting and thought-provoking mix of jazz harmonies, Brazilian grooves, baroque counterpoint and symphonic architecture which combine to provide a new category of contemporary music: classical music with a groove.
Composer and pianist Roland Perrin was commissioned by Hertfordshire Chorus to write this piece inspired by the Amazon River and region; its topography, its multitude of insects, the mystery of its remote tribes, and the experiences of the different people arriving from afar. Performed by a heady mix of jazz trio, massed choirs, and string orchestra – Rio Amazonas left. audiences reflecting on the need for humanity to learn to dance with the natural world rather than trample it underfoot.
Friday, July 14, 2017 at 12:42PM Docklands Sinfonia (with Emma at the helm) were thrilled to be performing for hundreds of children from Tower Hamlets on July 3rd and 4th 2017, in 3 performances at The People's Palace.
The Caretaker's Guide to the Orchestra was received with excitement and rapture! Written by acclaimed composer Jeremy Holland-Smith, narrated by children's author James Mayhew and directed by the Royal Opera House's Will Tuckett, The Caretaker's Guide took the children on a thrilling journey of musical discovery.
Composer Jeremy Holland-Smith recently orchestrated the music for the Universal hit film 'Sing'. His fresh and approachable score was choreographed by Will Tuckett, who recently won an Olivier Award for his production of 'Wind in the Willows.'
James Mayhew, author of much-loved children's books such as 'Ella Bella Ballerina' and 'Katie's Pictures', was narrating, as well as painting live scenes from the music. The audience watched in awe as his amazing pictures came to life on a huge screen as the orchestra played.
