a night of motown for save the children march 3rd 2016

For a second year, Emma was invited to perform for a massive fundraiser for Save the Children at The Roundhouse, Camden. This year, it was A Night of Motown and violinists Ruth Elder (and arranger), Tina Jacobs-Lim, Jemima Clarke and Emma Blanco were ecstatic to be back, this time playing with legends such as Mary Wilson of The Supremes, Tito Jackson, Beverley Knight, Lemar and John Newman. All the musicians involved are phenomenal, and the girls are proud to be a part of the AllStars Collective. A spectacular night was had by all.

The girls with the one and only Mary Wilson!!!

Emma leads Docklands sinfonia in huge childrens' concerts at Queen mary university, mile end.

Thanks to several grants and donations from generous supporters, Docklands Sinfonia was able to invite 1,600 Key Stage 2 primary school pupils in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets to two free concerts on 15th December 2015 at The Great Hall at Queen Mary University, Mile End. Emma led the Docklands Sinfonia in this collaboration with James Mayhew, illustrator and author extraordinaire. With a programme of extracts from A Midsummer Night's Dream by Mendelssohn, the children were absolutely enthralled by the music from the orchestra and the painting and storytelling from James. As he painted, the canvases were projected onto a huge screen behind the orchestra for all the chilren to see, bringing his narrations to life.

There are hopes for more concerts in 2016, bringing classical music and the joy of the arts to children who would never otherwise get the opportunity to be involved.
